Technology plays a large role in workplace ethics. Technology ranges from cellphones to computers to copy machines to fax machines. All this technology comes with a huge amount of responsibility. Your employer trusts you to use them in an appropriate manner and not abuse them.

Lets start out with your own personal cellphone. Your employer will trust that you will have the self control to not use your cellphone. If you are on your cellphone throughout the work day you are not doing work for the company while you are on the clock. This means the company is paying you to do nothing. You are stealing from the company by not working while on the clock and taking their money.
